🚗 Teen Driving Test Checklist (Ages 16–17)

To be eligible for your DPS Driving Test, you must meet all the following requirements no exceptions:

📅 Learner License Requirements

• Must have held your learner permit for at least 6 months.
  ⤷ Check the "Must Hold Until" date (marked as "F" restriction) on the back of your permit.

• Your permit must be valid.
  ⤷ Permits expire at midnight on your 18th birthday. If expired, you must renew at DPS before testing.​

• 🧠 Driver Education Course Completion

• Complete both the classroom and behind-the-wheel portions of a Teen/Minors Driver Ed Course.

• If you used Parent-Taught Driver Ed (PTDE):
  ⤷ Bring your PTDE-964 Completion Certificate (not the permit certificate).

• If you took your class with Amazing Driving School
  ⤷ We already have your certificate on file.​

 

🎥 Impact Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) Course

• Complete the 2-hour online ITTD course within 90 days of your test.

• Bring a printed or digital copy of your certificate.
